Cultural Extravaganza 2022 will be held from 13 May 2022 to 19 June 2022. It is an annual festival that celebrates our distinctive Chinese Singaporean culture. This is the 5th year that this event is launched and there are many activities available. I have filtered out all the free activities below. They all require tickets so I suggest booking them in advance.

Colours of the Lion City
Description: Chinese orchestral music meets pop songs in Colours of the Lion City! Joined by local young talented singers Gavin Teo and Ferlyn G, bask in the upbeat musical atmosphere with the Singapore National Youth Chinese Orchestra (SNYCO) and Associate Conductor Moses Gay this May. SNYCO Alumnus Ayden Sng will be hosting and facilitating the concert, which will also be live-streamed on SCCC & SNYCO’s Facebook for all to enjoy.

Rhythm of Time — Mini Film Festival
Description: Generation gaps are limited not only to human connections, occurring also in landscapes, values and culture — these are the different changes Singapore had gone through. Featuring a selection of local short films, Rhythm of Time — Mini Film Festival is a time capsule that documents various depictions of generation gap in Singapore from the 1940s to the present day.

Aunt Lotus & Her Dream Bicycle — Film Launch and Dialogue
Description: Aunt Lotus & Her Dream Bicycle is a Mandarin and Teochew language short film that follows the story of Aunt Lotus, a blind grandma who dreams of riding a bicycle again. Determined to fulfil her desire, Aunt Lotus constructs an unusual cycling simulation, using nothing but common household items.

Sculpture Walk @ SCCC reTHINGing the Site
Description: In our increasingly digitised world, why do we need things like sculptures? How do artists respond to today’s challenges such as the pandemic?
For this exhibition, local artists were invited to rethink or “re-THING” their practice. Comprising works from established and emerging artists of the Sculpture Society Singapore, and loans from the TENG Collection, this exhibition also celebrates the Society’s 20th anniversary and the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre’s 5th anniversary.

Life is Sweet: Ang Ku Kueh Girl Exhibition
Description: Life is filled with sweet and not-so-sweet moments.
These illustrations were inspired by Wang Shijia’s reflections on life’s joys and struggles. But don’t mistake Ang Ku Kueh Girl for her creator! Ang Ku Kueh Girl is determined, persistent and a thankful optimist; Shijia aspires to be like her!
Many of these illustrations have been published before. They have since been updated with new details and colours. Shijia also added traditional Chinese motifs to convey her well wishes for visitors.
