Music X Literature: A Piano Programme

Description: Music X Literature — a three-day series of performances inspired by poems and stories.

Join students of Ms Lim Tshui Ling and Ms Lim Tshui Fang, also known as The Lim Sisters as they take the stage to perform a myriad of classical piano music from the Baroque period and beyond.

This all-piano programme will feature musical interpretations of texts by composers Liszt, Schumann, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Chopin and Rautavaara.

Pianist Radostin Kirchev and violinist Skaidrite Rakovska present a programme of lyrical and picturesque works for violin and piano. Inspired by poetry of Pietro Metastasio and Richard Dehmel, the repertoire features works by Giuseppe Tartini, Alexander Zemlinsky and Tchaikovsky.

Distinct Voices

Description: Carolin Ralser and Fontane Liang are both dedicated performers of contemporary and classical music. Hailing from Europe, they met in Singapore through their shared love of contemporary chamber music. The two have shared the stage numerous times but Distinct Voices is their debut as a duo.

In this performance, the duo presents music from the 20th century and contemporary music by Takemitsu, Scott, Jongen and Chausson. Enter this brief yet timeless sound world with new ears and discover these rarely played works for flute and harp.

Band Weekend: Arias and Chamber music for voice and winds

Description: The students of the Vocal and Woodwind Studies of Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), School of Music come together to perform a selection of beautiful and familiar opera arias. Join them at an intimate evening of classical arias from the baroque, romantic and contemporary era for voice, wind instruments and piano.

Voice and Winds are two principle studies offered at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), School of Music. Ms Jessica Chen, Head of Vocal Studies and Mr Joost Flach, Head of Woodwind Studies, have prepared their students for this special collaboration at the Esplanade Concourse.

Band Weekend: Classical Remix!

Description: Featuring the interaction between electronic dance music, live brass instruments and the erhu. This live performance entails a club-styled DJ stage-mashing show featuring a live large brass ensemble.

Chinatown Heritage Walks – Kreta Ayer Heritage Trail

Life is Sweet: Ang Ku Kueh Girl Exhibition

Description: These illustrations were inspired by Wang Shijia’s reflections on life’s joys and struggles. But don’t mistake Ang Ku Kueh Girl for her creator! Ang Ku Kueh Girl is determined, persistent and a thankful optimist; Shijia aspires to be like her!

Many of these illustrations have been published before. They have since been updated with new details and colours. Shijia also added traditional Chinese motifs to convey her well wishes for visitors.
